Shoes for September
Footwear — By admin on September 3, 2010 at 3:22 pmWith the September issues out and full of next season’s trends and its obvious what clothes are in fashion – coats, blouses and jackets, knitwear and skirts but what ladies shoes do you wear with them?
Well according to the Telegraph it could get a bit confusing this autumn/winter.
“This has been bruited as a “return” to minimalism and a great thing for a grown woman’s sanity. We’re promised we’ll be able to bound out looking effortlessly co-ordinated, while radiating dignity and competence. We will, but only, I’ve realised, after we’ve tackled the hellish confusion of this season’s heels,” writes Sarah Mower.
However, it’s not all bad news according to Ms Mower you only need two types of footwear “a pair of pointy stilettos and some sort of block-heeled boots.”
When it comes to trousers this season there are four definitive shapes to be seen in the wide-leg, the boot-cut and the narrow-leg crop.
And the Telegraph has the answer to the dilemma of what shoe type to wear with each trouser.
If you are opting for the wide-leg look well Ms Mower advises going 70s with them, and as the hem covers the point of the shoe “you can take advantage of the old Seventies leg-lengthening illusion: high, stack-heeled boots or platforms, but roundish or squared in the toe, not pointed”. And you could even channel another footwear trend – the socks and shoe look as “the point is to cover and de-emphasise foot-awareness.”
As for the boot-cut well Sarah Mower writes that “it needs streamlined, narrow-heeled boots with a slightly pointed toe, probably in suede.” And as for a pair of crop trousers well that’s where the pointy stilettos come in to play.
As for skirts -well it’s all about the 50s revival so skirts are going circular. For the 50s look Ms Mower advises wearing the “petit stiletto” or kitten heel to you and I! And as for the other trend the below the knee A-line Ms Mower reckons we can wear either the block-heeled boot, if the skirt is more 70s style or for a 30’s look the pointy stiletto.
Well that’s my shoe dilemmas solved! I’ve just found this great online shopping site called Very – they sell absolutely gorgeous women’s shoes, so I’m definitely starting my hunt for some autumn shoes there.
